I’m probably not the best person to answer your question, but I might be able to help.

Sometimes, all you really need to do to define a phrase is find the meanings of the words that make it up.

For example, you probably won’t find “explicit meaning” in a dictionary, but you’ll find “explicit,” which will help you write out a definition. The same goes for most of the other words on your list.

If you know how to define “meaning,” then you’re on your way to defining “explicit,” “implicit,” “referential,” and “symptomatic” meaning.

If you know what “narration” is, you’ll most likely be able to define scenic and summary narration.

If you can define “symbol” then you’ll probably do a good job with “public” and “universal” symbols.

Find “conventions” on this page, and use it to define “poetic conventions.”

If you have a textbook, and the words are not in the glossary, check in the index to find what page number the words can be found on. Then, use context clues to define it.

Another option would be to look up literary terms dictionaries or lists online, but I couldn’t find any with these terms. One thing you could do is search each term with quotation marks around the words so that the exact phrase will come up.

I did find one thing: Biblical free verse: http://books.google.com/books?id=3IkMjEi4CvMC&pg=PA151&lpg=PA151&dq=%22biblical+free+verse%22&source=bl&ots=72kw3nq69W&sig=qOkFOZs5jTBP_fuSwjjOAX0eqv0&hl=en&ei=8NiUSrK8JYHiNYvo1fkH&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1#v=onepage&q=%22biblical%20free%20verse%22&f=false

I hope this helps!

New – This book describes a framework for the narratological definition of the term ‘eventfulness’ and its dependence on the historical, socio-cultural and literary context. An event is defined as the decisive turn, the surprising point in the plot of a narrative, which constitutes its tellability, the motivation for reading it.
